"On January 1, when the prices for households are updated, whoever is in power will fall the following day," stated Boyan Rashev.
Natural gas is the main reason for the rise in electricity prices in Europe due to long-term processes. There are no investments in exploration, demands and its extraction. Europe has long thought that renewables could easily replace natural gas and coal. At the moment, we see that they cannot.
Energy expert Boyan Rashev from denkstatt - Bulgaria stated on "Tazi Sutrin".
"The factors that raise the price of electricity are pan-European. At the end of July, there were problems on our territory; then there was our peak. Then TPP Maritza East 2 started, and things returned to normal," he added.
According to the energy expert, Europe is not a place to produce anything with these electricity prices. So it is becoming absolutely uncompetitive and will be very expensive for everyone.
"The EU's interconnected electricity market will fall apart, and individual countries will protect their economies. Therefore, carbon prices must be lowered. There are many mechanisms the EC can do so," he explained.
Rashev explained that a large part of the energy of Kozloduy NPP goes to the regulated market to keep the price low for households.
"On January 1, when the prices for households are updated, whoever is in power will fall the following day," the expert said.
