GDP per hour worked: Each employee generates an average of BGN 20
A decrease of 1.8% of GDP in the first quarter of 2021 according to the seasonally adjusted data compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
The NSI reported an increase of 2.5% compared to the fourth quarter of 2020.
According to preliminary data, the gross domestic product produced in the first quarter of 2021 amounted to BGN 27,054 million at current prices. BGN 3,912 per capita of the value of the indicator. With an average quarterly exchange rate of BGN 1.622815 per USD 1, GDP amounts to USD 16,671 million and USD 2,411 per capita, respectively. Recalculated in euros, the GDP is 13,833 million, with 2,000 euros per capita.
The gross added value created by the branches of the national economy amounts to BGN 23,128 million at current prices for the first quarter of 2021.
In the first quarter of 2021, the relative share of the agricultural sector in the added value of the economy was 2.2% and has maintained its level compared to the same quarter of the previous year. The industrial sector reduced its relative share by 0.6 percentage points to 26.5%.
The relative share of the added value realized by the activities in the largest sector of the economy - the services, has increased to 71.3% compared to 70.7% in the respective period of the previous year.
According to preliminary data for the first quarter of 2021, final consumption increased by 2.1%, while gross capital formation decreased by 2.0%. Exports of goods and services increased by 6.7% compared to the previous quarter, according to seasonally adjusted data, and imports of goods and services - by 2.7%.
According to preliminary data, in the first quarter of 2021, the gross domestic product (GDP) per employee has risen in real terms by 2.0% compared to 2020.
The persons employed in the economy are 3 313.7 thousand and the total number of working hours is 1 346.0 million. The structure of employment by economic sectors in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the corresponding quarter of 2020 shows an increase in the relative share in the industrial sector and the services sector and a decrease in the relative share in the agricultural sector.
One employee accounts for BGN 8,164.3 of the current volume of gross domestic product, with each employee generating an average of BGN 20.1 GDP per hour worked.
