The members of the Economic and Social Council agreed on the need to express a joint standpoint on the reforms in the healthcare and social assistance fields. At its third plenary session, the Economic and Social Council adopted changes to its Action Plan in 2021, by adding recommendations on the National Health Strategy 2021-2027 and the reform of social assistance. The two new topics are proposed by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy. After receiving both proposals from the Ministries, the Council of Presidents set the topics for the National Health Strategy 2021-2027 and the Social Assistance System reform for discussion. The plenary session adopted both topics, arguing that they were highly important.
The plenary session of the Economic and Social Council adopted amendments to the ESC Rules of Procedure, through which the document is more effective, better structured, and facilitates internal procedures. The Council’s plenary sessions will also be available online.
The Healthcare subject was also discussed during the hearing of the Director of the Central Coordination Unit in the Administration of the Council of Ministers Ivan Ivanov. He presented the progress of the National Plan for Reconstruction and Sustainability, the Partnership Agreement, and the operational programs, as well as up-to-date information on other strategic plans and programs of Bulgaria.
We will continue to work and provide information on the progress of the negotiations on the Partnership Agreement, the Green Deal, the Recovery and Sustainability Plan, as well as other programs, throughout the year, the President of the Council Zornitsa Rusinova stressed.
