BIA's Chair Radosvet Radev - part of the renowned panel of judges to determine the winners

We are thrilled to share that a total of 111 entries with a cause compete for the 2020 Responsible Business Awards, surpassing both our expectations and last year's figures. The 18th edition of this country’s most prominent corporate social responsibility and sustainability contest saw 78 companies of every size and industry share their excellence in CSR campaigns. Special thanks to everyone who entered the competition: you are true champions.

As a free-of-charge contest for businesses of every size and industry, the Awards celebrate companies that embrace social good and their successful and inspiring campaigns in support of people, communities and nature carried out in the turbulent 2020 – the year of COVID-19 but also of the private sector’s unprecedented solidarity with community issues.

The Awards, a trademark BBLF initiative, aim to encourage and celebrate responsible businesses’ contribution to building a fair society and a sustainable future in line with our vision of making Bulgaria a better place to invest, work and live in.

Despite the difficulties, most businesses faced in 2020 the six categories of the Awards saw 111 entries, which is more than the previous year. The most contested one is Investor in the Community with 31 entries. Next is the Investor in Knowledge category with 27 nominations. The Investor in Human Capital and Working Conditions title is sought by 20 companies, up by  30% compared to 2019. The Cause-Related Marketing category also saw a rise of entries – 17.  Eight campaigns were submitted in the Investor in the Environment category where finalists get an additional accolade by running in the European Business Awards for the Environment coordinated in Bulgaria by BBLF. Again, 8 companies contend the Best Social Policy of SME award.

We will celebrate one of all entries in the six categories for embracing the values of diversity and inclusion at the workplace. The winner of the new special Diversity@Work award is selected by the Diversity Charter Bulgaria, a 2020 initiative of the Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum and the Centre for the Study of Democracy.

The special Engage Award is granted to one amongst all entries in all categories to honor employees’ involvement in a CSR project or the degree of employee contribution to social good causes. The winner is determined with the assistance of the British Embassy in Sofia.

Champions in the six categories are determined by a renowned panel of judges featuring prominent experts in the NGO, public sector, academia, business, and the media. Assessment criteria are as follows: specific benefits to the community; work in partnership with other stakeholders; employee involvement; consistency; innovation and public recognition.

Finalists and winners will be announced at a formal award-giving ceremony to be held whenever possible depending on the COVID-19 situation but not sooner than the end of April 2021. The event also features a short review of all entries, and their summaries will later get published on our online CSR platform

Don’t miss the chance to get unique visibility for your brand, product, or service by sponsoring the high-profile Annual Responsible Business Awards ceremony that convenes senior representatives of the business community, the public sector, diplomats, and the media.
