The registered unemployment rate in the country for December was 6.7% [1] according to the administrative statistics of the Employment Agency. This is the lowest registered value after the end of the state of emergency on May 13th, 2020. Compared to November 2020, there is no change in the value of the indicator, and compared to December 2019 there is an increase of 0.8 percentage points.

At the end of December, the registered unemployed in the labor offices, according to the data of the Employment Agency, were 220,292, which is 1,452 more than in November. On an annual basis, the increase is 25,577 people.

During the month, 32,607 new unemployed people registered to use the mediation and services of the labor offices. In addition, another 488 people from the groups of jobseekers, students and pensioners have also registered in the Employment Agency.

In December, the number of unemployed persons who started work reached 12,253, an increase of 8.2% compared to the same month last year. Over the past month, 523 jobseekers from the group of retirees, students and employees have also found their new jobs through the employment offices. Of those who started working, 81.2% are employed in the real economy, most of them registered in the manufacturing sector - 26.8% of all those who started working, followed by trade - by 17.1%, general government - 6.8 %, construction - 4.7%, etc.

During the month, 2,309 unemployed persons from the risk groups started working in subsidized jobs - 462 under employment programs and measures and 1,847 - under schemes of the Operational Program “Human Resources Development”. The "Employment for you" scheme under the Operational Program "Human Resources Development", which started in July as an anti-crisis measure, has provided employment to 8,335 people, and in December the newly concluded employment contracts were 751.

The anti-crisis measures for short-term employment support, popularly known as the third design of 60/40 or CMD 151/2020, as amended by CMD 278/2020, and 80/20 or "Short-term employment support in response to the pandemic of COVID-19” under the Operational Program “Human Resources Development” ensured the preservation of the employment of more than 300 thousand employees from May to the end of December.

The measure "Save me" which compensates employees in forced unpaid leave, imposed by the suspension of a number of economic activities in order to control the pandemic of COVID-19, provided only a month from its start guaranteed a minimum income of 14,544 employees in over 3100 companies .

In the present forms of training for adults, financed by the state budget and the European Social Fund, in 2020, in compliance with all anti-epidemic measures, a little over 15,300 unemployed persons are included.

The declared jobs on the primary labor market in December were 7 572. The largest share of vacancies in the real economy were announced in the manufacturing industry (40.0%), followed by trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (10.5%), construction (7.8 administrative and support service activities (7.7%), general government (7.6%) and financial and insurance activities (5.1%).

The most sought-after professions during the month are: machine operators of stationary machines and equipment; workers in the mining and processing industry, construction and transport; metallurgists, machine builders and related craftsmen; economic and administrative specialists; installers; waste collection and related workers; sellers; skilled workers in the production of food, clothing, wood products; staff caring for people; drivers of motor vehicles and mobile equipment, etc.
