The National Council for Tripartite Cooperation held an emergancy online meeting at which the government and the social partners discussed a Bill amending the Law on the Ministry of Interior, submitted by Plamen Nunev and a group of MPs.
At the meeting convened by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic and Demographic Policy Mariana Nikolova, the social partners supported the bill.
The proposed amendments provide for a new approach for civil servants in the Ministry of Interior Affairs, in which all work performed outside the established regular working hours up to 70 hours per quarter and 280 hours per year should be reported as overtime and compensates with remuneration, thus the compensation with additional annual leave for overtime work will be eliminated. The bill envisages the relevant overtime work to be paid with an increase of 50 percent on the basic monthly salary for civil servants in the Ministry of Interior Affairs - police and fire safety and protection of the population, who work part-time. The change also regulates the daily reporting of working hours for them.
