Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, Mayor Lyubomir Hristov and the President of the Bulgarian Industrial Association Radosvet Radev opened a 2500 ton press for the production of special aluminum profiles of a new high-tech generation in Alkomet JSC, Shumen.

The facility is worth BGN 50 million and is part of the three-year investment program for BGN 69 million, which includes a new line for continuous casting and cold rolled mill. The new 2500-tonne press will produce 10 000 tons of aluminum profiles of any size. The new capacities will open 100 jobs.

“We at Alcomet started our story 20 years ago. Back then we had difficulties, but many dreams, and today some of these dreams come true - for example, we had 6000 tons of production per year and a turnover of EUR 10 million. For the past 20 years, we reached a capacity of 70 000 tons and a turnover of EUR 200 million. These are, of course, only a few of our dreams, we have more dreams, and in this connection, from my heart, I want to thank the state institutions, local government, customers and the banking sector, our workers,” the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Alcomet Fikret Ince said in his speech.

“It was a great honor for us to design, manufacture and deliver this press in Shumen,” said SMS Group spokesman Hans Hoppe, adding that such presses, the Düsseldorf-based machine-building company, had supplied only to Japan and Germany.

The opening ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Nigyar Jafer, the candidate for the European Parliament MEP Lilyana Pavlova, Turkey’s General Consul in Burgas Nuriy Inyontepe, the President of the Bulgarian Investment Agency Stamen Yanev, partners and clients of “Alcomet”.
