On 10 April 2019, a working discussion on “Energy Efficiency - Difficulties, Opportunities and Challenges” was held at BIA in fulfilling the obligations of the energy traders and the opportunities for implementing projects (joint activities) with equipment suppliers.
During the meeting were sought ways to expand the cooperation between energy traders and companies providing market-based energy-efficient technologies and services to end-users, meeting individual energy savings targets and acquiring energy savings certificates from third parties.
The majority of companies rely on external auditing firms to carry out energy efficiency audits because they do not have their own license.
Major obstacles and difficulties that businesses encounter in meeting their individual energy savings targets are the uncertainties in the provisions related to energy savings certificates, the lack of experience in offering energy-efficient technologies and services, the undeveloped market for energy savings certificates.
The discussion was within the framework of Project BG05SFOP001-2.009-0144 “Enhancing the Citizen Participation in the Processes of the Formulation, Implementation and Monitoring of Policies and Legislation in the Field of Energy Efficiency” implemented by the Bulgarian Industrial Association – Union of the Bulgarian business, in partnership with the Agency for Sustainable Energy Development and Sofia Energy Agency SOFENA under the Operational Program “Good Governance”, co-financed by the European Union through the European Social Fund
