Bulgaria’s gross external debt at the end of July 2016 stood at close to 35 billion euro or 76.7 percent of the GDP,according to end-of-July Bulgarian National Bank data. Over one year the debt has gone up by over 180 million euro of 0.5 percent. The country’s long-term liabilities amount to over 27 billion euro (78.3% of the GDP and 60.1% of the gross external debt) which means they have gone up by over 1 billion euro (4.2 percent) compared to the end of 2015. Short-term liabilities have shrunk by over 376 million euro, down to almost 7.6 billion euro compared to July 2015.
