”I am not sure whether my invitation was а result of the lack of response from the government representatives concerning the beginning of this significant event or the fact that there is a change of philosophy of goals and instruments of the Plovdiv Fair. I would be happy to hear that the second reason is right.” said Executive President of the BIA Bojidar Danev at the opening of the 72nd International Technical Fair.

Danev said also that he is honored and accepts his invitation as a recognition of the key role of business in the economic development. “Business creates innovative concepts and generates export of products with higher added value. The government creates necessary conditions and the business creates goods.”

EXCELLENCIES,

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,

It is a great privilege and honor for me to open the 72nd edition of the International Technical Fair. I am not sure whether I was invited to do so due to the fact that members of the Government, involved in political battles, did not respond to the invitation to take part to the start of this important event, or to a change in the philosophy, objectives and tools of the Plovdiv Fair. I like to think it is the latter.

I take the invitation as recognition of the key role of business as motor of the economic development and the creation of jobs. Business is the creator of innovative ideas and generator of exportable products of high added value. The State creates conditions, and the business creates goods! Driven by this philosophy I take the opportunity to express my gratitude for this honor.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,

The 72nd edition of the International Technical Fair sets a new beginning, a new vision of the oldest trade show in Bulgaria.

The Fair is becoming a demonstration center for high technologies and new types of business and this is a very important step towards encouraging Bulgarian manufacturers to develop and share their innovation potential.

Unfortunately, Bulgarian economy is still lagging to a great extent behind the economies of the other European countries in terms of high technologies and innovations. Indicative of this is the fact that our country keeps exporting mainly raw materials and goods of low added value.

On the other hand, we have great potential to develop such technologies since there are so many experts possessing the skills and qualifications required, in particular in the field of information technologies. Let us not forget that Bulgaria has long traditions in machine building and robotics and these are the sectors that are regaining most sensibly positions on the local market but also, and even more, on the international markets.

In this context, the decision of the Plovdiv Fair management to focus on technologies and innovations is commendable and must be supported. It is so gratifying that Plovdiv Fair, which is a place for trade exchange, is developing into a place for exchange of ideas. This is a great opportunity for advanced companies as well as for young inventors and entrepreneurs to step up on the international business stage and show their capabilities. I believe that over the next few days many future-oriented people will meet their partners and together they will start the journey to achieving their ideas.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,

We live in times where technologies are born as quickly as they die to let room for new technological solutions. These are times where being capable of fast thinking and acting is key to any business enterprise. Therefore, I believe that the decision of International Fair Plovdiv is timely and I am convinced of its success. By doing that, Plovdiv Fair is adapting to the revolutionary changes in the world’s economy driven by the boom in digitization.

Last but not least, I would like to congratulate the participants to this year’s Autumn Edition for their initiative and obviously well-founded self-confidence to exhibit their products. My wish is that their participation will be not only remembered and successful but will stimulate them for further development and prosperity.

Good luck!
