Companies, municipalities, and state government in Bulgaria still accumulate new loans. In end-2013 their loans reached BGN 171 billion, up 1.9% (BGN 3.1 billion), compared with 2012. Loans of companies are BGN 117 billion, almost half of which are overdue. This transpires in an analysis on loans of companies in 2013 by the Bulgarian Industrial Association. Outstanding obligations of companies to banks and other financial institutions amounted to BGN 46.9 billion, i.e. 28% of all outstanding obligations.
