Cables for car brands like Mercedes, Cadillac and Opel will be produced in Pleven. A modern 5,000 square meters plant will be constructed by "Electrocabel Bulgaria", a subsidiary of global cable manufacturer of Nexans Autoelectric Group, Standart daily reports.

"Electrocabel Bulgaria" plans to invest several million euros in the new facility , according to information by the Bulgarian Investment Agency .

The work on the construction of the plant will begin in the spring and it is expected to be operational by the end of the year. At full capacity it will be employ 600 workers in production, administration , logistics, quality control and engineering.

Nexans is a leading provider of cables for Daimler and General Motors. Based in Southern Germany, the automotive supplier has picked Pleven after having explored investment opportunities in several countries in Eastern Europe. Among the decisive factors in the choice of Pleven are its infrastructure, the quality of the labor market , a stable currency and the entry of Bulgaria into the EU, project leader Michael Krupp revealed.
