Bozhidar Danev, Chair of the Bulgarian Industrial Association, BIA, has said that the existing Parliament has no future in its current composition.
Danev presented Monday the stance of the BIA on the current economic and political situation in Bulgaria, stressing that the organization backed the scenario involving a new Parliament elected through new general elections.
"Until a new National Assembly is formed, all politically-tinted ministers and deputy-ministers in the Cabinet should go and be replaced by experts, nominated by the civil society," the BIA Chair stated, as cited by the BGNES news agency.
Danev argued that representatives of all political parties and civil society had to seal a social contract on the dissolution of the current Parliament within a year.
The BIA Chair suggested that Bulgaria had to hold general election alongside the European Parliament election in 2014.
He explained that BIA demanded a fundamental change to the Election Code stipulating a shift from a preferential voting system to a majoritarian electoral system.
Danev also made clear that BIA was in favor of the idea to draft a new Constitution with enhanced civil participation.
The BIA Chair noted that Bulgaria had a newborn civil society and the organization believed it to be the main factor in the country.
"We also back a radical change in the economic, social and political values and attitudes. We, the employers, bear economic risk, we create jobs, we form the national income, and together with taxpayers we are also the employers of political parties, the government and the MPs," Danev emphasized.
Bulgaria has seen 10 days of mass protests against the socialist-led government of Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski over ties to oligarchs and a series of scandalous high-profile appointments.
