Some interesting facts about robberies

30% of burglaries are committed when the door isn’t locked or there’s a window left open. If you just pay more attention to locking the doors and closing the windows, you increase your home’s security.

Some interesting facts about robberies

The largest percentage of burglaries occur during the summer months. People travel a lot more in the summer. In addition to that, people often leave their windows open for some fresh air, which, however, also allows access to people with bad intentions.

Two-thirds of home burglaries occur during the day. Burglars rely on the fact that during the day people are usually at work. In the daytime, it is not as easy to spot suspicious activity (when on the outside looking in), too.

Around 41% of burglaries occur in properties that do not have security systems. It is estimated that a security system turns out a lot cheaper than a burglary.

The probability of getting robbed as a tenant is almost twice as high. If you live in a rental property, there is an 85% greater chance of becoming a victim of a robbery. It's rare for a renter to install a security system, which makes this group of people much more vulnerable than others.

Bedrooms are the place that gets robbed the most. Thieves most often search the bedrooms first for jewellery, hidden money or other valuable belongings. Research shows that the most secure room in the house is the children's room.

Only 9% of the burglaries occur on the upper floors, and about 31% are attempted through lower floor windows.

Some interesting facts about security cameras

CCTV has been around for about 80 years. The Siemens Company first installed surveillance cameras on the German V-2 rocket in 1944. The next major event in the development of CCTV took another 20 years or so. In 1962, a surveillance monitor system was established in New York City to monitor public spaces and reduce crime in areas. It is not a big surprise that the banks were the first to make mass use of video surveillance services.

There are a huge number of cameras around the world - approximately 25 million. There are approximately 3,000 cameras at the Singapore airport alone.

Cameras adapted for night vision can "see" better than our eyes. They combine ICR and IR LED technology to achieve impressive infrared surveillance that is capable of functioning in total darkness.
