PPS Manufacturing - the first nitrile glove factory in Europe to be built in Plovdiv

The new factory is a unique project for Bulgaria and Europe, as there is currently no production of protective nitrile gloves for the medical and food industry on the continent. The possibility of establishing such a plant in Bulgaria, especially in a pandemic, will provide a tremendous economic advantage to our country and the EU. PPS Manufacturing's new factory should start operating by autumn 2021. The investment, entirely Bulgarian and supported by the Sustainable Cities Fund, exceeds BGN 10 million and will create over 100 new jobs.

"Maxcom and Austrian motorcycle manufacturer Pierer Group open a new plant in Plovdiv.

Maxcom's owner and former member of the Bulgarian Industrial Association Management Board, Maxim Mitkov and Pierer Mobility's CEO and leading partner Stefan Pierer signed a contract for the joint plant. The joint venture will be named Pierer & Maxcom Mobility and located on 131 acres in the Trakia Economic Zone near Plovdiv. The plant should be built by the second half of 2023, with production starting in 2024. All product is for export, with plans to reach an annual output of 300,000 electric bicycles and expand production with other electric mobility products. In addition, the plant will provide 1,000 new jobs. The investment is to exceed BGN 60 million. Thanks to this deal, Bulgaria has a real chance to come first in Europe's production of electric bicycles.

Germany's Next.e.Go invests 140 million euros in its plant in Bulgaria.

In July, Bulgaria signed a memorandum with the German company Next.e. GO for the construction of an electric vehicle plant in Lovech. The investment is worth 140 million euros and will create 1,000 new jobs. The Bulgarian government is willing to provide €34 million in incentive funding once production starts.

"Ceratecit" to invest 20 million euros for the expansion of its plant in Gabrovo.

The investment is aimed at expanding the production capacity for metal cutting and special tools in Gabrovo. "Ceratecit also plans to create 100 new jobs and build a new modern production facility with logistics and solar park for its own needs. In addition, R&D and a training centre for highly qualified personnel are also planned. The Ceratecit Group has been operating in Bulgaria since 1996. It is a high-tech engineering group specializing in the production of hard metal tools and technologies. The plant in Bulgaria employs 620 people. The company was separated after a merger between Plansee TICIT - Austria and Cerametal - Luxembourg. Both companies have many years of experience in the production of hard alloys.

The Dutch-Czech CTD is preparing the construction of 85 thousand sqm in three logistics parks in Sofia.

The company is the largest operator of logistics-industrial parks in CEE. 85 thousand sq.m. of floor area, 40 thousand sq.m. are planned in the first phase of the future CTPark Sofia West, on Sofia Blvd. "Lomsko shose". The deal for the site ought to be finalized in September, and construction to start this year. Two or three months away from its official opening, another 30 thousand sq.m are planned at "Lomsko" Blvd and "Botevgradsko". In its complete form, the first project is for 112 thousand sqm, and the second is for 105 thousand sqm, according to information from the building and infrastructure projects. There is no official information on where the remaining 15 thousand sq m will be. However, one could assume that they will be in the third Sofia location of the STP - next to Sofia Airport. The company bought an existing logistics facility there in late 2020 in a leaseback deal.

"Eurohold" finalizes the acquisition of seven subsidiaries of CEZ Group.

Eurohold Bulgaria AD, the largest public holding company in Bulgaria and one of the leading independent financial and insurance groups in Southeast Europe, officially finalized the acquisition of seven Czech energy company CEZ Group subsidiaries in Bulgaria. The deal is worth EUR 335 million and is implemented through Eastern European Electric Company (EEEC), 100% owned by Eurohold. As a result of the transaction, which all competent local regulators have already approved, Eurohold will acquire 67% of the largest electricity distributor in Bulgaria - CEZ Distribution Bulgaria (with 40% market share) and the largest electricity supplier - CEZ Elektro Bulgaria, as well as 100% of the capital of the largest licensed electricity trader - CEZ Trade Bulgaria. In addition, the holding company also acquired the IT services company CEZ ICT Bulgaria, the photovoltaic park Free Energy Project Oresec, the biomass electricity company Bara Group, and CEZ Bulgaria, which coordinates and manages the activities of all CEZ companies in Bulgaria.

Melexis invests EUR 75 million and expands its team in Bulgaria.

The manufacturer of chips and sensors for the automotive industry Melexis Bulgaria, part of the Belgian group Melexis, will open its new building in Gorublyane in September. The €75 million investment aims to increase chip production at a time of global shortages of components in the automotive sector. The company, which has an average of 13 chips in every new car today, is looking for operators, engineers and technicians to fill the teams in Bulgaria. It plans to hire 160 new employees by the end of 2022 to add to its current team of 500.

BA Glass Bulgaria invests 60 million euros in а glass plant in Sofia.

The investment is part of the Portuguese company's development plan in Bulgaria. It owns two plants in Bulgaria - one in Plovdiv, the other - in the capital. Their total turnover amounts to BGN 1.8 billion. The company's annual turnover is 8.8 billion lv. According to the strategy for the development and improvement of the business in the country, BE Glass intends to modernize its plant in Sofia by 2022.
