European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is a consultative body of the EU, which includes representatives of organizations of workers and employers and other groups.

Committee presents views on EU-related issues to the European Commission, the EU Council and the European Parliament, thereby acting as a bridge between decision-makers EU institutions and citizens. The EESC allows interest groups to express official opinions on EU legislative proposals.

The main tasks of the Committee are:

  • to ensure that policies and EU law are consistent with the economic and social conditions while seeking consensus for mutual benefit;
  • encourage EU participation, giving organizations of workers and employers and other stakeholders the opportunity to express their views and ensuring dialogue between them;
  • to promote the values ​​of European integration and to uphold the cause of participatory democracy and civil society organizations.
