The Ministry of Tourism has made a fifth payment to tour operators and travel agents, which compensates consumers for dropped trips in the period March 1st - December 31st, 2020. The ministry has given grants to another 99 companies engaged in tour operator and travel agency activities, amounting to over BGN 3.139 million.

So far, the total number of funded enterprises is 572, with provided funds to over BGN 32.256 million, the tourism ministry announced.

The funds are allocated from the state budget and amount to a total of BGN 51 million. This is one of the measures taken by the Ministry of Tourism to support the sector in overcoming the effects of COVID-19.

The amount of one-time grants is 4% of turnover without VAT in 2019, disclosed in the financial statements under the Accounting Act, and the provided support is to compensate the losses of tour operators and travel agents.

The aid is a matter of priority to reimburse passengers whose travel packages have been canceled due to COVID-19 for the period.

The deadline for applying for state aid expired on March 22. The currently implemented measure for tour operators and travel agents will be in force until April 5.
