Chairperson of the Management Board and Chief Executive Officer of DSK Bank

Violina Marinova was born in 1953 in Sofia, Bulgaria. 

In 1977 she graduated in financial studies at the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics in Svishtov . She  specialized in Complex Banking Services of the clients of DSK (1986) at the University of National and World Economy; in Management, Marketing and Business Communications, and Finance and Accounting at the Institute for Marketing and Management in Sofia. Mrs. Marinova commands Russian and French and speaks Armenian and English.
She has a unique experience in banking of over 40 years, all of which in DSK Bank. She started working for DSK (the former Bulgarian Saving Institute) back in 1971 as an accountant at a DSK branch; further she became Director of the branch and a Deputy Chair of the Management Board of DSK Bank (1996 - 2001). From September 2001 to 2004 she was a member of the Management Board and an Executive Director of DSK Bank. In May 2004 she was elected Head of the Internal Control and Audit Directorate. On 29th of November 2004,  Mrs. Violina Marinova was appointed a Chairperson of the Management Board and Chief Executive Officer of DSK Bank by the Supervisory Board.

Currently, Mrs. Violina Marinova is a Deputy Chairperson of the Executive Board of the Association of Banks in Bulgaria, Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of DSK Rodina Pension Insurance Company and Deputy Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Bankservice. 

Mrs. Marinova has been performing variety of social activities as a member of the Вoard of Trustees of Stefan Makedonski National Music Theatre, member of the Вoard of Trustees of the University of National and World Economy in Sofia and as a Chair of the Management Board of  Atanas Bourov Foundation.

In 2001 Mrs. Marinova received the prestigious Best Banker of the Year Award of  Atanas Bourov Foundation. 

In 2005 Mrs. Marinova was awarded the Andras Fay prize of OTP Bank for special merits in her work at DSK Bank, the most successful subsidiary in OTP Group. The prize is an acknowledgement of Mrs. Marinova's  personal contribution to the financial performance and the organizational and managerial consolidation of DSK Bank. In 2007 the Bulgarian financial weekly Banker pronounced Violina Marinova Banker of the Year and the prestigious British financial magazine Finance Central Europe chose DSK Bank's head for the Banker of the Year in Bulgaria for five consecutive years - 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.

In September of 2013 for her exceptional contribution for the building and consolidation of the reputation of and the trust in Bulgarian financial institutions, markets and services, Mrs. Marinova received the highest national recognition – Stara Planina order, first degree. In October the same year Violina Marinova was pronounced Manager of the Year 2013 in the sixth edition of the competition under the same name, organized by the Bulgarian Manager magazine. In March 2014 DSK Bank’s CEO and Chairperson was awarded Hungarian Gold Cross for Merits. The award was bestowed on Ms Marinova for her support for the Bulgarian-Hungarian cultural exchange and in recognition of her  contribution to the promotion of Hungarian culture in Bulgaria.

In two consecutive years - 2015 and 2016 - Violina Marinova received recognition  from the prestigious international organization European Business Assembly (ЕBА) set in Oxford, Great Britain. DSK Bank's CEO was nominated for Manager of the Year award. The nominations are the result of a careful research conducted by the analytical cetres of the Europe Business Assembly with  selection of top managers  made on the basis of the following criteria: company performance and effectiveness, vision and leadership, innovativeness, creativity, professionalism, exceptional managerial skills, business ethics land corporate social responsibility. Mrs. Marinova’s nomination is a well-deserved acknowledgement of her significant input to the success of their companies by advancing the best management practice and service for employees and customers.
